As a 23-year old rookie with the Kansas City Royals in 2015, it was an exciting time to be in baseball. The team had just signed Alex Gordon right before spring training began and they were all ready for their championship run that year. Then, on April 10th of that year, Gordon hit three home runs against the Baltimore Orioles to tie Babe Ruth’s record of career home runs (714) at 477.
“It shocked me” is a phrase that can have many meanings. It can mean to surprise someone, or it may be used to describe something that was unexpected.
The Miami Heat, led by Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh, have been one of the most legendary NBA teams of all time for almost a decade. They either became your favorite team or your most despised; there was no middle ground. Despite the fact that their detractors disliked the notion that the players had control rather than the organization, Wade said that this was not their intention.
In fact, the 2006 Finals MVP recently expressed surprise at the opportunity to play alongside The King.
Over a decade ago, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh established the legendary Big Three Heat squad.
When Wade, James, and Bosh established the Miami Heat’s Big Three in 2010, they permanently transformed the NBA. They formally started the player empowerment movement by assembling an almost unbeatable lineup that included three or more future Hall of Famers.
Their combined star power also made them the league’s most divisive squad.
Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union-Wade noted on an episode of The Old Man and the Three podcast earlier this year, “It made the NBA glamorous again.” “We hadn’t had that type of attention, good or bad, since Showtime,” says the producer.
The Big Three have been in four consecutive NBA Finals and won two consecutive titles in 2012 and 2013.
James also cemented his status as the greatest player on the planet by winning back-to-back league MVP titles (his third and fourth overall) as well as two Finals MVP trophies. Wade and Bosh, on the other hand, were named to the All-Star team in each of the four seasons they spent together.
Of course, LeBron broke up the squad in 2014 when he opted to return to Cleveland and play for the Cavaliers. Their run, on the other hand, was really amazing.
Here are their averages from each of those seasons.
- LeBron James scored 26.9 points, grabbed 7.6 rebounds, and dished out 6.7 assists.
- Dwyane Wade scored 22.2 points, grabbed 5.3 rebounds, and dished out 4.7 assists.
- 17.3 points and 7.4 rebounds for Chris Bosh
Wade, on the other hand, had no notion the three of them would end up working together.

Wade recently talked with Complex Sports about his Big Three days, and he claimed that he and James never contemplated teaming up until the summer of 2010, when they were both free agents.
“I never imagined we’d work together.” “I never considered it,” he replied. “… It was great to get the chance to play together in the Olympics.” I loved having the chance to play together in the All-Star and summertime games. But I never imagined we’d be teammates in an NBA game.”
Wade was taken aback when the celebs began discussing the possibilities of doing it during that historic summer.
“It was a shock to me, as it undoubtedly was to the rest of the world, when that discussion transpired in the summer of free agency in 2010,” he continued. “I’m sure that came as a shock to LeBron as well.” We didn’t intend for that to happen. It simply occurred naturally, and a lot of it may be because you watch yourself playing with people in the Olympics, you see yourself with a man, and you realize his personality matches yours. It might have something to do with the Olympics and males getting together, but it’s not like, “Oh, we met during the Olympics and decided.”
“The choice was made—we simply didn’t realize it at the time—by being around someone and playing with someone in those tiny moments,” he concluded.
‘The Decision’ had Chris Bosh ‘on the edge of his seat.’
Wade wasn’t the only one who was taken aback by James’ decision to go to Miami. Chris Bosh made his statement before James on a live TV show called The Decision. Bosh basically said that he made his move in the hopes that James would follow suit.
“We stopped communicating to each other because it was so exhausting; we couldn’t, it was the last thing we wanted to speak about,” Bosh stated on the Real Ones earlier in 2021.
“Of course, there was a manner to not knowing,” he continued. It was a full thing, program, and to be honest with you, I was on the edge of my seat as well.”
Many people were startled when LeBron James signed with the Heat, but he’s probably glad he did. It culminated in one of the most momentous transfers in NBA history, allowing each of the players to further their already illustrious careers.
