Justin Fields Still Might Be the Week 1 Starter in Chicago Despite Overwhelming Evidence to the Contrary

The Chicago Bears have yet to name a Week 1 starter, but the only player who has been named as a starter is second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

The justin fields ohio state is a highly debated topic. There are many people who believe that Justin Fields will start for the Chicago Bears in week one.

During the preseason, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy hasn’t strayed far from his message that Andy Dalton is the team’s starting quarterback, at least not until lately. Nagy is likely of the opinion that first-round draft selection Justin Fields will be better suited for the position if he is given time to develop rather than being thrust into it right away. However, he just made a remark that appeared to imply Fields still had a shot to start Week 1 as the starting quarterback.

Matt Nagy recently said that Andy Dalton’s performance will have a significant impact on when Justin Fields will play.

“Winning and performance.”

Earlier this week, Matt Nagy all but guaranteed that Andy Dalton will start the regular season. Is there, however, any reason to be skeptical? Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio and Chris Simms believe so.

Simms and Florio discovered a tape from Monday’s Bears practice in which Nagy seems to imply that the quarterback issue is still being worked out. Nagy said the club is pleased with Dalton’s practice performance, but that Fields’ preseason development has also been impressive.

Nagy told Pro Football Talk, “We appreciate what he’s doing right now with the ones in practice, and I think that’s probably what makes us feel comfortable.” “However, we appreciate where Justin [Fields] is now and how he’s progressing. So that’s what we’ll be talking about for the next couple of weeks.”

Perhaps these internal debates are just that: internal debates. If this were really an open-and-shut case, it seems odd that Nagy and his team would have anything to speak about.

With a strong performance against the Tennessee Titans in the Bears’ preseason finale on Saturday night, Fields may have a shot to earn the starting position.

The preseason finale will be kicked off by Fields.

Because Andy Dalton is the Week 1 starter, #Bears coach Matt Nagy tells reporters that QB Justin Fields will start in their final preseason game and Andy Dalton will sit.

Is it going to be a big opening and grand closure for Fields?

Aside from a shaky first drive, the former Ohio State quarterback had a solid preseason debut for the Bears, completing 14 of 20 throws for 142 yards and a touchdown. In Week 2, he showed off his pocket escapability and general agility by running four times for 46 yards. However, the passing percentage (9-of-19) left a lot to be desired.

Fields gets the start against the Titans on Saturday, which will be his last chance to compete for the starting quarterback position. On the one side, the Bears may be sitting Dalton in order to avoid an injury. Nagy, on the other hand, may want to have a closer look at Fields before making a final choice.

The Chicago Bears haven’t had a genuine franchise quarterback in years. Fields is likely to be that man in the future, if not now, but with a good showing on Saturday, he may push the boundaries even farther.

Matt Nagy isn’t the first player to use the grooming method. Early in Patrick Mahomes’ career, the former Chiefs offensive coordinator tried the same thing with him, and it appeared to work out nicely.

It is important to note that this scenario is unique. At the time, Mahomes was the backup quarterback to Alex Smith, who was named to the Pro Bowl and had his finest season of his career in 2017.

Andy Dalton began games for the Dallas Cowboys last season after a lengthy career with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, at this point in his career, he is far beyond his peak. Furthermore, given Chicago’s quarterbacking past, supporters are expecting Justin Fields to make an immediate impact.

Nagy may have already made up his mind, planning to follow Mahomes’ model. Nonetheless, his remarks from earlier this week may offer Fields a glimmer of optimism.
