The NFL Hall of Famer and Fox Sports analyst says Murray is a top-tier quarterback, but Mayfield has the edge on him.
The Arizona Cardinals and the Cleveland Browns are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Kyler Murray has guided the Cardinals to a 6-0 start, firmly establishing himself as a contender for the MVP award. Baker Mayfield has had his ups and downs and is now injured. Despite high preseason expectations, the Browns have a 3-3 record. Marshall Faulk, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, sees a significant difference between the two quarterbacks.
Baker Mayfield has a 2-0 record against Kyler Murray.
The careers of Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield will be eternally linked.
Lincoln Riley coached both quarterbacks at the University of Oklahoma. Murray and Mayfield were the best players in the world in 2019 and 2018, respectively.
In their brief NFL careers, the Oklahoma Sooners standouts and Heisman Trophy winners have faced off twice. Murray has beaten Mayfield on both occasions.
Murray met for the first time during his rookie season in 2019. He threw two touchdowns and one interception for a total of 219 yards and one interception. He also gained 56 yards on the ground. Mayfield has a 247-yard passing yardage, two touchdowns, and one interception. The Cardinals, on the other hand, defeated the Browns 38-24.
Arizona dominated once again in Week 6 of the 2016 season. Mayfield completed 67.8 percent of his throws for 234 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Murray completed 22 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns while throwing no interceptions.
Murray and Mayfield have a significant difference, according to Marshall Faulk.

Despite the fact that Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield have a lot in common, they are not the same player. Despite this, they are often associated with one another owing to their shared history.
Marshall Faulk, a former running back for the Indianapolis Colts and the St. Louis Rams, was a recent guest on The Rich Eisen Show. The greatest difference between Murray and Mayfield was addressed by him and Rich Eisen.
“We saw a difference between Kyler Murray and the man that had all the ads,” Faulk said. “Those two quarterbacks have a big gap between them.”
The Hall of Famer isn’t even mentioning their playing styles. “Kyler Murray is the reason you win,” he added, “and he’s the reason his club is in this situation.” “There are a few of reasons why a team may win. The other is team management. It’s simply that it’s different.”
Faulk went on to say that he’s “not knocking Baker,” but that he’s making a judgment based on what he’s seen so far in their careers.
Murray has a chance to win the MVP award, while Mayfield is struggling.
The Arizona Cardinals enter Week 7 with an undefeated record against the lowly Houston Texans. Kyler Murray is the main reason why his team is undefeated in 2021.
Arizona thrashed and dominated the Browns from start to end. The Cardinals continue to persuade those who doubted them. It was shocking how convincingly they defeated Cleveland.
While head coach Kliff Kingsbury was not on the sidelines, Murray guided his squad to another great win. Through six games, the third-year quarterback has passed for 1,741 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. He’s also passing 73.8 percent of the time.
On the other side, the Cleveland Browns are going in the opposite way. Kevin Stefanski’s team has Super Bowl hopes for the 2021 season. At this time, the squad does not seem to be a title contender.
Baker Mayfield is a contributor to the issue. He hasn’t performed well in the first six weeks, and he hasn’t taken the following step. Mayfield will miss the Browns’ Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos due to a shoulder injury.
Despite their potential, the Browns have done nothing to inspire confidence in their status as Super Bowl candidates. Mayfield has to improve, but he may never be as good as Murray when it comes to being an MVP contender.
There is a significant difference, as Marshall Faulk pointed out.
