Tom Brady revealed that he has been chasing a secret legacy he’s been trying to achieve for the past 8 years. The Patriots quarterback said his goal is to win five Super Bowls, and if he accomplishes this feat, he will be considered one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Tom Brady is widely regarded as the best quarterback in NFL history (greatest of all time).
Brady’s recent Super Bowl victory with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put an end to most of the debate around his legacy. Many saw him as a product of Bill Belichick’s New England system, but that reasoning no longer holds water.
Brady has clearly established himself as the NFL quarterback’s Mount Everest. However, it wasn’t long ago that the Buccaneers’ quarterback was pursuing another’s legacy.
It wasn’t Joe Montana, either.
As early as 2013, Tom Brady has his sights set on Michael Jordan’s legacy.
Brady is a highly competitive person, so it’s not surprising that he had some internal drive pushing him all these years. What is unexpected, though, is that Brady chose Michael Jordan of all people. Jordan is obviously not a football player, so comparing his legacy to Brady’s may be difficult.
With being stated, Brady’s strong drive to accomplish the impossible is shown in this admission. He was setting internal goals for himself that most people would consider unattainable.
Jordan’s six NBA titles were amazing, but the notion of an NFL quarterback winning six Super Bowls seemed like pure fiction. Before Brady, many regarded Joe Montana to be the greatest quarterback of all time, yet he only won four games.
Brady, of course, has already won seven Super Bowls and is looking for his eighth in 2021.
Has Tom Brady overtaken Michael Jordan’s legacy?
Aside from the fact that Brady now has more championship-winning seasons than Jordan, it’s worth considering if he’s overtaken Jordan in terms of sheer legacy.
Jordan was not only regarded as the GOAT because of his exceptional on-field abilities, but he was also a marketing icon. Jordan’s “Jordan” brand is worth billions of dollars. He rose to fame as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets after appearing in the film Space Jam. The Last Dance is another picture that was a huge hit because to Jordan’s participation.
Brady isn’t currently in a position to make such assertions.
Brady has his own “TB12” brand, but if he wants to compare his off-field legacy to Jordan’s, he’ll need to focus on the marketing/business side of things. Meanwhile, he may be content with the fact that he met his 2013 objective of earning more rings.

Brady has a job to accomplish in 2021 before he can start thinking about post-retirement legacy plans. The Buccaneers are bringing back every key player from their Super Bowl-winning team in 2020, putting them in a strong chance to repeat as champs.
Despite undergoing a modest offseason knee surgery, Brady is said to be in good condition and has been allowed to remove a knee sleeve that he has worn for the last decade. The Bucs could walk back into the playoffs if he performs like he did last year (40 touchdowns, 4,000+ passing yards).
Then it’s up to Brady to do what he does best: win.
